i've been up to no good lately, when deciding not to finish my lab reports. thanks to my old distraction, multiply...and my new found one, facebook... lol.
But seriously speaking now, i always thought that being in a play would relax me and take my mind off Bio. Well it did, but in a stronger way than i expected. there are days that i'd prefer rehearsals over class.. and in reality (well yes i'm admitting my nerdiness), i'd actually rather be in class. OR maybe being a performer, changes the perspective of a long time production person. i tell people that it's harder being backstage and calling the shots than being there on stage and seeing all those faces. IT's TRUE. BUT, for me performing isn't as easy too. although i've never been a shy person, hello? but i don't sing or do choreographed dances in public unless of course alcohol is involved. haha. kidding! and now, i feel like i'm in a whole new league altogether. i've gained a new excitement for being on stage, and my respect for performers has grown, especially due to enduring all the warm-ups!
So right now, i am distracted. Because i need the concentration to keep me sane amidst all the choreography i have to remember. I guess the movie Ratatouille was right in saying anyone can cook... i just had to change it to "anyone can be whoever she wants to be and do what she wants to do." Being on stage also made me realize that i have already actually found my niche, in Bio. But i still do enjoy exploring.
True, i'm a science major at heart. i always will be. But doing other things emphasizes my belief that i can never box myself into one category. I love bio and now i've fallen in love with theater. And yet i don't see myself repeating the experience. 'Cause theater made me realize that i'd always return to my dream, although delayed, i'll still become a doctor someday no matter what.
